You may have already heard, but this will make it an announcement. It is official!! El Centro is taking a break for the summer after 10+ years of punk rock. It isn't the end of the world though folks, so put on your reading jacket and read on.....
Cheer up punkass! El Centro will be back playing shows more than likely next year with the original lineup (5 members) Crabby, Denny, Brett, Gil and Mando. Look for updates here of course.
So what have the boys from El Centro been up to lately? It turns out that 3/5 of the original band has written a new full length and are going to be releasing it sometime in early 2006 (with any luck) under the name THE UPRISING. The new music from THE UPRISING is blazing fast with alot less of the pop punk influence that El Centro has always had. Don't get me wrong, the guys haven't ditched melody completely, but THE UPRISING is definitely a harder edged, more politically motivated sound than EL CENTRO.
THE UPRISING's website is http://www.jointheuprising.us/, and will be finished soon. Bookmark that shit!!! Until the site is up and running, look for The Uprising shows listed here at centrocore.com!
Some facts about THE UPRISING's first CD which is currently being recorded.
Greg Hetson (Bad Religion/Circle Jerks) is helping produce some of the music, and is turning knobs on guitar tones.
Rumor has it that there will be guest vocals from a legendary punk singer and long time hero of THE UPRISING.
The vocal content of THE UPRISING's new songs is very heavy due to the fact that Crabby (singer) has written alot about his experience being bombed by Al Queda in Bali back in 2002 where over 200 people were killed all around him, and he lost his best friend and EL CENTRO manager Steven "Webby" Webster.
